A formal square provided at the centre of the development reflects the formality of the retained neo-classical buildings whilst in contrast, the existing mature trees and generous landscaping around the site edges, which originally screened the site’s warehouse and factory buildings, have been retained. There is a strong emphasis on providing new places for people to meet and children to play safely – pedestrians and cyclists take priority creating shared surface and amenity spaces throughout the development.

Planning History

Outline planning permission for a mixed-use scheme on the site was granted in October 2013. A reserved matters application for the Phase One residential scheme, based on Studio Partington’s masterplan, was approved in December 2013 with unanimous support. The Phase One proposals received a Building for Life score of 12 out of 12 based on the 2013 assessment procedure.
