The central landscaped courtyard provides meaningful podium level
landscaping and is a central focus to the development. It is open to the west,
allowing direct light into the courtyard during the afternoon and evening. The
raised courtyard is fully enclosed by buildings with front doors and private
terraces at podium level which provide active frontages. The site layout also
allows for private rear gardens to the south serving family sized duplex units

Planning History

This is a highly sensitive site due to the Grade II listed war memorial within
the site as well as its relationship to the adjacent listed buildings. We carefully
considered the important historical features and created a strong dialogue
between the new development and the historical context. By balancing all
these challenges and solutions we have been able to maximise the number of
new homes provided and improve the setting of the listed structures without
creating adverse effects on the Jubilee line tunnel below.
