Completed - April 2016. Creekside Wharf consolidates the relevant principles established by a 2007 extant permission which covered the proposal site and the parcel of the land to the south to provide 204 residential units. The design of Creekside Wharf was developed in collaboration with other surrounding planning consents and gained detailed planning permission in July 2015.
Essential Living is committed to creating a new, truly inclusive and balanced community. With a focus on the long term, a community- centred approach to place-making was adopted, starting at the very beginning of the design process. The design team held a total of three separate public consultations to ensure the local community were given every oppurtunity to provide input during different design stages. A community focus group with local collective 'Greenwichmums.com' was also held to understand fully what parents wanted from family housing. The ideas generated from this workshop directly fed into the design proposals for the 'Family Building', the first of its kind in the UK. The Greenwich Society were also consulted and local businesses provided with the oppurtunity to directly comment on the emerging designs. Through this extensive consultation process, support for the scheme was unprecedented, with over 50 letters of support recevied from local community groups, residents and businesses. Creekside Wharf's community focus continues, with final negotiations taking place with local nursery 'Millenium Minis' to operate the on-site nursery and discussions being held with 'Greenwich Co-operative Development Agency' (GCDA) about the remaining commerical space.
