Dukelease acquired the site in 2009, fully aware of a previous application which had been refused. They therefore engaged with the Council, local community groups and English Heritage before submitting a new application. The project took seven years to bring to fruition, from purchase in 2009 to planning consent in 2012 and completion in 2016.
