The site had been the subject of a previous pre-application meeting, with a scheme bought forward by another architect in 2014. However, the feedback recieved was so negative that the original scheme was not pursued. The current proposal bought forward by Metropolitan Workshop was submitted in 2017 and initially refused, before being approved upon appeal in January 2018.
