The redevelopment increases the amount of outdoor space and provides every home with its own private amenity space, either in the form of a garden or balcony.

The public can walk through the site along clearly legible streets, at the centre of the scheme a new public square, with a Community Hub and Peabody offices, will provide a fantastic amenity space for the whole neighbourhood.

Each building has its own shared private space, accessible only to the buildings occupants. These provide safe spaces for these smaller communities.

Planning History

The scheme was submitted for detailed planning in 2012 after five years of working closely with Peabody and the London Borough of Wandsworth to achieve a planning application which met the aspirations of Peabody’s ‘21st century Peabody’ document.

The site is abutted by two conservation areas and a busy railway line. The scheme has been designed to respond to the surrounding historic context, without being pastiche, and the positioning of the buildings onsite mitigates the noise created by the passing trains.
