The site is within the Fish Island Area Action Plan, with plans to increase connection of Fish Island to Hackney Wick. A new square adjacent to the site is part of this connected masterplan and will provide an enhanced pedestrian route and attractive places to walk with new trees and planted verges. Block A will house affordable workspaces to help build on the thriving creative industries in Fish Island. Each flat will have a balcony for private amenity space. A safe and secure naturally lit play space for under 5s is provided in the podium courtyard.

Planning History

Prior to the appointment of Pitman Tozer Architects, Peabody had acquired the site with a pre-existing planning approval. Pitman Tozer worked with LLDC to better meet the requirements of Peabody and respond to the historic context of Fish Island, within the limits of a Non-Material Amendment. (The approval established un-negotiable parameters such as massing, number of homes, proportions, parking etc.) The NMA was submitted on 05 June 2015 and was granted on 23 October 2015.
