Designer Stephenson Bell Developer Crosby Homes Northwest Contractor not yet appointed Planning Authority Manchester City Council

The architects have exploited changes in level across the site to produce a dramatic mix of flats and commercial uses in the heart of Manchester. We were particularly impressed by the very high quality planning of the flats themselves, and the skill with which they are disposed to maximise views out of this tightly constricted canal side site.

This is an important project, since it demonstrates the faith developers now have in the role of new housing in our city centres, not just in the form of conversion of existing buildings from other uses, but in the shape of positive statements like this about the future shape of urban areas.
